Mediterranean Cruise Day 1

It's finally here! May 29th, the day of our cruise! We headed to Venice on the 28th and stayed at a hotel by the airport. It was very difficult to wait until 11:00 to check out and head to the port. We were so anxious we were up at 8 am, but of course we couldn't board the boat until 12. It was the longest couple of hours of my life! Once we boarded the boat didn't leave the port until 7:00 pm. It was a long time to wait, but we found plenty to do on the boat.
Here is our boat, the MSC Armonia.
The pool. We didn't put our swimsuits on once!
Our room. One of the things we found to do was unpack and get settled in.
Since drinks are not included we had to buy drink packages. I got a water package and Micah chose a cocktail package. (He got water too.) Micah thought it would be fun to lay out by the pool with umbrella drinks. This is the first day on the boat and the only time he drank a fruity drink by the pool. He got some very funny looks in the lounges while drinking umbrella drinks. Most of the other men had more masculine drinks. He really enjoyed trying every cocktail on the menu.
This was taken after the muster drill we had before the boat left the port.
Our first stop was Ancona, Italy. We didn't take an excursion, but chose to walk ourselves. We made it to the town center and took this pic of an arch along the main road.
Photo from the boat. It was my least favorite of the stops, probably because we didn't really know what to do. I was really excited to get back on the boat and start getting ready for our first Gala!

  1. Love the pictures! Looks like you had a wonderful time. I visited Greece for several days when I lived in Italy. It was great seeing some of the same sites I visited in your pictures. Ancona, Italy is where some friends of ours were missionaries for years. They just recently came home. It's such a beautiful, quaint Italian town, but definitely not a huge tourist city.
